The Year 5 students have been learning about civics and citizenship in HASS, specifically how our country runs as a democracy and what aspects make a person an active citizen. In line with this, an incursion with the State Emergency Services (SES) has been organised for Thursday, 8th June, where the students will receive information about volunteer work in our community, including the benefits for volunteers and society as a whole. The students will be provided with the opportunity to ask the volunteers questions and later use the information they gather to create an informative poster. We are extremely excited to have the SES volunteers at St Dominic’s and cannot wait to learn first-hand about the work that they do.
