Year 5 and 6 Tennis and Cricket Day
Friday 13th November 2020
Abbett Park and Scarborough Tennis Club
All Year 5 and 6 students will be participating in an Inter-school Tennis and Cricket tournament on Friday, 13th November, at Abbett Park and Scarborough Tennis Club.
St Dominic’s will field 1 x girls and 2 x boys tennis teams. We will also field 1 x girls, 1 x boys cricket teams and a mixed cricket team. Year 6 students will be given first preference on what sport they would like to participate in. Students will be accompanied by Mr Bovell, Mr Sullivan, myself and three parents on the day.
Tennis will be played with “red ball rules”, as per the ANZ Hot Shots program, and the Cricket will be played as per the Milo T20 Blast rules. Both game versions are designed to include players of all abilities and give students the chance to incorporate the Tennis and Cricket skills they have been practising during school sport lessons in the previous weeks, as well as Term 1. If your child has chosen Tennis, they will be required to bring their own racquet. If your child does not own a racquet, the school will supply one for them.
What to bring:
- Medication that students bring to school themselves
- Grey St Dominic’s sport shirt
- Hat
- Water Bottle
- Recess and lunch
There are no canteen facilities at the venue.
Students should arrive at school at the normal time on Friday, 13th November. They will be transported by bus to and from Abbett Park. The bus will leave St Dominic’s at 9:15am and leave Abbett Park at 2:15pm.
I do require two parents to supervise the tennis teams. If you can help out on the day, please get in contact with me.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me.
