Year 5 and 6 Excursion to the Parliament of Western Australia and WA Museum Boorla Bardip – Tuesday 25th July

We are pleased to provide you with the following details regarding the upcoming Year 5 and 6 excursion to the Parliament of Western Australia and WA Museum Boorla Bardip on Tuesday, 25th July. This excursion has been planned to supplement the following work being completed in your child’s classroom:

  • Year 5: how people are represented in Australia’s democratic system and how environmental features influence human activities
  • Year 6: study of the government and law-making of Australia and Australia’s connection to countries

The class will depart from St Dominic’s at 9:15am and return to St Dominic’s by 2:45pm.

Travel will be by bus.

Activities to be undertaken include:

  • A 60-minute interactive, informative and engaging experience to current tour of Parliament House.
  • Students will undertake an activity called ‘Voting with Your Feet’, where they learn about voting during a division in Parliament.
  • Students may also have the opportunity to meet a member of Parliament.

Self-guided “diversity trail” of Boola Bardip Museum where students identify how nature and humans have adapted over by discovering objects with powerful stories. This tour allows students to explore the museum and its many engaging and interesting exhibitions.

Special clothing or other requirements include: 

  • School sports uniform (grey polo top)
  • Hat
  • School bag with recess and lunch inside and a bottle of water
  • 1 Pencil

Parent Help

  • No parent help will be required.

If, for whatever reason, you need to contact your child during the excursion, please call the school office who will then contact one of the supervising staff members.
