We are pleased to provide you with the following details regarding the upcoming Year 4/5 excursion to Kings Park on the 4th of April, 2025.
This excursion has been planned to supplement the following work being completed in your child’s classroom:
Year 4:
- Living things have life cycles
- Living things depend on each other and the environment to survive
Year 5:
Living things have structural features and adaptations that help them to survive in their environment
The classes will depart from St Dominic’s School at 9:00am and return to school by 2:45pm. Travel will be by bus.
Activities to be undertaken include:
- A 90-minute interactive, informative and engaging experience looking into plant structures, pollination and life-cycles.
- Free play at the Rio Tinto Naturescape
Students will:
- Learn that living things have structural features and adaptations that help them survive in their environment.
- Observe and identify West Australian plant adaptations in the field.
- Collect, identify, classify, and label plant specimens for an herbarium.
- Develop respect and empathy for the environment to enhance concept of responsible stewardship.
Special clothing or other requirements include:
- School sports uniform (grey polo top)
- Hat
- School bag with recess and lunch inside.
We require some parent helpers on the day. Please fill in the Microsoft form if you are able to help on the day and you will be notified once parent helpers have been finalised.
