Please find link below the program for the 2022 Faction Swimming Carnival, which will be held at Claremont Swimming Pool on Thursday, 3rd of March, from 10am. Please check this carefully and get in touch with me if you have any queries and I will cross check against the information I have via the form you filled out.
Swimming Carnival Program
Some things to note for the day:
- Students will receive a ribbon for the event in which they race. Champion Boy/ Girl will be based on heat times in 50m events excluding Open Butterfly and Open 100m Freestyle.
- Interschool selection will be based on 50m events, as well as 100m events. 25m events will go towards faction points.
- Students are not allowed to request to be in other races on the day of the carnival. The events in the program are final. I will have the information parents provided on the Microsoft Form available to me on the day to cross check.
- This year, we will have a chief judge watching all races. Their job will be to adjudicate all races. Students will be taken through this information the day prior to the carnival.
- If you have put your name down to help, I will get in touch with you on Tuesday next week with information about your role on the day.
- For some of the races, I have had to mix year groups to avoid having only one student in the race. I have spoken to each student who it will involve already. Students will be awarded points for their faction and given ribbons according to where they finished in their year level. I have put students in Year 3 & 4 together, and students in Year 5 & 6 together where possible.
- A break for lunch will be had after the 50m breaststroke races. Students can eat their morning tea throughout the day.
- On the day of the carnival, photos or videos should not be taken during races.
COVID-19 Restrictions
To ensure the safety of our community and to enable this years carnival to proceed, the following COVID-19 restrictions have been put in place.
- Upon entry, parents/ caregivers will need to follow all COVID-19 directives in place at Claremont Swimming Pool.
- Parents/ Caregivers are asked NOT to engage with students/ staff during the carnival and MUST remain in the spectator area on the entry side of the pool throughout the day. Families SHOULD NOT sit on the student side of the pool.
- This year students will be sitting in year levels instead of factions.
- Students will not be able to join families at lunchtime and should have everything they require for the day in their bag.
- There will be no teachers vs students vs parents race.
- Families wishing to take their child/ren at the end of the carnival, MUST complete the form linked below. At the conclusion of the presentation ceremony, those students whose families have completed the form will be walked over to the spectator area.
