Year 2, 4 and 5 Excursion to Brownes Dairy – Wednesday 2nd April

We are pleased to provide you with the following details regarding the excursion for Year 2, 4 and 5 classes to Brownes Dairy on Wednesday 2nd April, Week 9, 12:30-2:00pm.

This excursion has been planned to supplement the following work being completed in your child’s classroom. The visit is part of the Design Technologies learning area program (Food and Fibre context).

The classes will depart from St Dominics at 12:00pm and return to St Dominics at 2:30pm. Travel will be by Bus.

Activities to be undertaken include:

The students will be touring the Brownes dairy factory to learn how products are processed, investigate food safety and quality, taste and experiment with dairy products, meet a farmer and a cow to learn about the milking process and taking care of cows.
Students will have the opportunity to milk a cow. The tour supports development of many concepts we have been studying this semester including the roles of people in design technologies, the equipment and technologies used in food and fibre production, and how consumer satisfaction and efficiency is considered in production systems.

Special clothing or other requirements include:

School sport uniform with grey shirt

We require some parent helpers on the day. Please fill in the Microsoft form if you are able to help on the day and you will be notified once parent helpers have been finalised.
