The Year 1 students will be going on an excursion to the State Library and WA Museum Boola Bardip on Friday, 4th June.
This excursion ties in nicely with our HASS topic of Past and Present. At the State Library, we will be discovering what life was like in the past through exploring the State Library’s pictorial collection. We will find out why the State Library collects photographs and what stories photographs tell about the past. We will use the images from the collection to create a timeline of Perth in the form of a vintage-style postcard souvenir to take home. This is a fun, hands-on activity where we will be comparing how life in WA has changed, and stayed the same, over time.
At the WA Museum Boola Bardip, we will explore our state’s rich heritage by looking at the experiences and perspectives that have shaped West Australia’s identity, in particular, our First Nations people.
We will be traveling by bus on the day, which is scheduled to leave school at 9:00am and return to school by 2:00pm.
We will be sharing our excursion experience with the Year 2’s and our Buddy class, the Year 6’s!
