Raise Your Voice Competition Wrap up

On Monday, 2nd of November, St Dominic’s held the annual ‘Raise Your Voice’ Competition with students from St John’s in Scarborough.  The event is an opportunity for students in Year 5 and 6 to practice their Public Speaking skills in front of an audience.  Students selected from St Dominic’s were:

Josie M

Arya S

Kari W

Talan G

Mitchell S

Olivia H

Students were allowed to choose any topic to speak about and were allowed to use props to support their speech.  Each speech ran for 3 minutes on a variety of topics which included the need to wear bicycle helmets, gender equality, school uniforms and childishness, just to name a few.

Overall, we could not have been prouder of the way our students conducted themselves on the day.  Public speaking is never easy.  Our students handled themselves so well and were cool, calm and collected throughout.

A congratulations must go to Arya S in Year 5 for winning the Year 5 trophy for her passionate speech on Gender Equality.

Please find below a link to photos of our students with their certificates and trophy.
