As a part of our Humanities and Social Sciences unit this Term, the Pre-Primary students have been exploring their community.
The students have created a small suburb with their houses, located their houses on Google Maps and discussed helpers in our community. We thought it would be a wonderful idea for the Pre Primary students to participate in a community walk. So, next Friday, 4th June, we will be walking from St Dominic’s School to the Morris Place Shopping Centre, where the students will visit IGA to collect some ingredients for a cooking session later in the day, the WA Music Co for a demonstration of musical instruments, the post office to post a letter which they will write in class, and the St Vincent De Paul Society where the students will donate one piece of clothing. Additionally, on our journey, the students will have a scavenger hunt where they will have to look out for certain things within our community, such as street signs, churches, parks etc. To finish our community walk, the children will enjoy their lunch at Birralle Reserve. We will then head back to school where the students will cook with the ingredients purchased from IGA.
We will require 3 parent helpers who are prepared to walk with us on our community walk and be responsible for a small group of children. Unfortunately, parents with siblings joining them will not be suitable for volunteering as a parent helper on this excursion. After conducting a raffle of names, we will inform you as soon as possible if you have been selected to attend. If you are interested in being a parent helper for this excursion, please complete the online parent helper form linked below.
