Students in Year Two have been enjoying weekly lunch time sessions with me throughout Term 2. Through fun games, stories and activities they have been able to identify, label and talk about a range of feelings and emotions as well as strategies to regulate big feelings. Also a big thank you to our three Year 5 and Year 6 group facilitator assistants!
The theme of the group was based on the popular story book ‘The Colour Monster’ by Anna Llenas. One day the Colour Monster wakes up feeling very confused, his emotions are all mixed up and he feels angry, happy, calm, sad and scared all at once. The story explores these feelings and helps the Colour Monster name each of his emotions. This is a great book to read at home to help children identify how they are feeling as well as recognise the feelings of others.
