Apparently, this is the first time this trophy has ever been shared – a sign of just how close the competition was.

We were as always, very proud of all our students who ran so well for St Dominic’s yesterday, but there are a few notable mentions…

  • Olivia Hildebrandt in Year 5 who came 4th in her own Year 5 race, and then backed it up to run again with the Year 6 girls so that St Dom’s could field a team.
  • James Dyer in Year 4 who led from start to finish to win his race convincingly!
  • Ben Dabbs and Talan George in Year 5 who finished 3rd and 4th respectively in their race and Josie Moran who achieved the goal she set for herself with a top-ten finish in the Year 4 girls’ race.

As I always say to the kids – Cross Country is absolutely a team effort. The 4th and 5th runners in a school team matter just as much as the first, and the way to continue to improve our standing, is to get our 3rd 4th and 5th runners, closer to our 1st and 2nd runners.

Thanks must go to Mr Bovell for his assistance at training and on race day and also to Miss Matrenza for accompanying the students on the day. To the parents who manned checkpoints and turned up to support our runners, thanks to you too – your presence is greatly appreciated.
