To celebrate Grandparents’ Day, we would like to extend an invitation to all grandparents and special friends to join us for a morning at the school on Monday, 28th October. We recognise the importance of this wonderful group of people in our children’s lives, and wish to extend our thanks to them by welcoming them to the school and in particular, to their grandchild’s classroom.
We will begin by celebrating a prayer service commencing at 9:00am in the church and would love to have our grandparents join us for this (students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 will be attending the prayer service). Grandparents will then be welcome to visit their grandchild’s classroom and join them in activities from 9:30-10:00am. We ask that children remain in their own classes and do not move to siblings’ classrooms, and that those with more than one grandchild at the school share their time between classes.
Following classroom visits, our grandparents and special friends are invited to morning tea in the hall from 10:00-10:30am. Tea, coffee and cakes will be available for grandparents at no cost, kindly provided by our P&F.
We then invite grandparents to join their grandchildren for recess from 10:30-11:00am. Students should bring their usual recess on this day. If grandparents wish to share a special treat with their grandchildren, they are welcome to bring a treat from home. We are allergy aware and ask that you are mindful not to bring food containing nuts.
Grandparents of children in Kindy and Pre-Primary will not be able to take their grandchild out to join older siblings for recess.
We understand that many of our students have grandparents who will not be able to attend this morning. We would still like to have these grandparents included in our celebration in some way, and we invite you to provide a photo of your child’s grandparents to be included in a special slideshow to be played during our prayer service.
