Late yesterday afternoon Premier Mark McGowan provided an update in relation to the COVID-19 lockdown that came into effect in the Perth and Peel regions on Friday at midnight.
Further advice in relation to the lockdown was provided.
Advice for Perth and Peel Region Residents
The Perth metropolitan area and the Peel region are being treated as one region for the lockdown period. The means that people may travel between the two areas for one of the four exceptions to staying at home.
The exceptions are as follows:
- Work because they cannot work from home or remotely;
- Shop for essentials like groceries, medicine and necessary supplies;
- Attend to medical or health care needs including compassionate requirements and looking after the vulnerable; and
- Exercise with a maximum of four people, limited to one hour per day, and masks must be worn (except for vigorous exercise)
Anyone currently in the Perth metropolitan area or Peel region may not leave the region during the lockdown period.
People residing outside the lockdown region may only enter the lockdown region to deliver or access essential health or emergency services, and other essential requirements.
Perth and Peel Residents Who Travelled from the Region on Friday
Any Perth and Peel residents who travelled from the affected regions yesterday should be following lockdown protocols, including wearing a mask in public and avoiding non-essential travel.
Non-Residents Currently in Perth and Peel Region
Non-residents currently in the Perth metropolitan area and the Peel region are required to remain in the region until the end of the restriction period, unless they meet criteria for an exceptional circumstance.
Contingencies for Lockdown Extension
In the event that there is an extension to the lockdown period, as a school we have our COVID-19 Six Step Plan ready to go and have reviewed our school’s remote learning plan, should it be required.
As news and directives are shared with us via the Premier’s Office and Catholic Education Western Australia, I will continue to keep you updated throughout the weekend.
Take care.
