COVID-19 Update #9

Over the weekend, we have received confirmation of further positive cases in the Year 1 and 2 class, so please continue to monitor your child/ yourself for symptoms of COVID-19, get tested if necessary and isolate until you receive a negative result.

As outlined on Friday, under very high caseload settings, students identified as close contacts must take a PCR test or a RAT within 24 hours of notification.  Provided the test is negative, and they have no symptoms, they may:

  • continue attending school provided they do not develop symptoms;
  • attend care services and Outside School Hours Care (OSHC);
  • attend sporting or cultural training, practice, or events organised through the school and held immediately before or after school; and
  • travel between their usual place of residence and their school, only, avoiding public transport where possible.

At all other times when they are not engaged in an activity listed above, these students should isolate at home.  If these students have not developed any symptoms in this period, to conclude their isolation they must take another PCR test or RAT on day 6/7 and test negative.

As is the current protocol, following the confirmation of positive cases in Year 1 and 2, both classrooms, the wet area and toilet block, all underwent a COVID-19 deep clean on Friday night.  The cleaning was completed by a specialist external cleaning company.

Self-Reporting Portal for COVID-19

It is vitally important that parents and caregivers inform the school if their child tests positive for COVID-19.

To support our planning for your child’s classroom attendance, please continue to notify St Dominic’s if your child returns a negative PCR/ RAT result, after:

  • being identified as a close contact (Day 1 test to return to school as an asymptomatic close contact), and/or
  • being identified as a household close contact (Day 7 test to conclude quarantine).

Parents and caregivers are asked to inform the school of their child’s positive or negative COVID result via this LINK.  The information will go directly to myself, prompting our COVID response.

The link is also available here on the St Dominic’s School website via the COVID Test Results tab located on the home page.

Please do not underestimate the importance of informing St Dominic’s of a positive COVID case.  Your actions will ensure the risk to others is minimised and that we do our very best to limit the spread of the virus across our community.

As a Catholic school, the safety and wellbeing of our students continues to be our highest priority, so if you have any queries or concerns regarding your child, please contact me.  If you have health concerns, please contact WA Health on 1300 316 555 or ncovcontact@health.wa.gov.au.
