The first week of the year has been very successful and it was wonderful to see our students reconnecting with each other and their teachers.
The Chief Health Officer WA has advised that schools should respond to recent and significant COVID-19 outbreaks by reframing school events to meet recommended guidelines. The advice highlights the need to limit in-school gatherings of students, staff and parents to smaller groups. This will have an impact on the mode of delivery of certain school events and co-curricular activities. Where possible, events will be maintained in an online, outside, or otherwise approved environment or format.
Therefore, in line with Department of Health, Department of Education and Catholic Education WA guidelines, the following changes will be put in place from Tuesday, 8th February:
- Parents/ Caregivers are not to enter classrooms
- Parents/ Caregivers are still allowed on site to walk children to class or pick them up in the afternoon, however, time on site should be kept to a minimum – the use of the Kiss and Ride driveway is highly encouraged
- Only small, class-based activities will take place
- Whole school activities will be postponed
- Face to face meetings will be moved to online or over the phone
- Staff and collaborative planning meetings will take place online
- Staff will utilise additional rooms/ spaces for recess/ lunch breaks
These measures will hopefully minimise the number of staff and students impacted in the event of a positive case.
Changes to any upcoming events will be shared closer to the time and the online planner will be updated regularly to reflect these changes.
Please don’t forget that the latest Government information regarding COVID-19 is available through the Healthy WA website: Healthy WA.
Finally, all information is current as of Monday, 7th February, however, information is subject to change at short notice. We will endeavour to communicate any changes as quickly as possible.
