Book Week is coming up in Week 6 and several activities have been planned. Book Week is an exciting event held each year. It will be a great opportunity to celebrate books and have some fun! There will be a parade, a book exchange, and many engaging activities for the students to enjoy during the week in their classrooms.
Book Week Parade
On Monday, 23rd August at 9am, St Dominic’s School students will take part in a Book Week Parade in the undercover area. The theme for Book Week across Australia this year is ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’, evoking thoughts of ancient times, futuristic realities and alien or fantasy lands.
We ask that each child come to school dressed as a character from a book. There will be a small prize for the most creative costume from each class. This is not a compulsory activity so children choosing to not dress up should come dressed in their normal school uniform.
Great Book Exchange
The annual ‘Great Book Exchange’ will be held on Tuesday, 24th August. We would love each child to bring in a book that they no longer read and is in good, clean condition. If your child would like to bring in more than one book, we will gladly take all donations for this wonderful event. All books must be brought into school to your child’s classroom by Monday, 23rd August.
Don’t forget to also send along a gold coin donation with your child on Tuesday, 24th August, so that they can select a book to bring home. If they would like to get more than one book, then they will need a gold coin for each book they would like to get.
All money raised will go towards the Meta Geha Orphanage in Myanmar which we support as a school community.
Thank you for supporting this annual event.
