On Wednesday, 2nd March, the Year 1 to 6 students and staff of St Dominic’s School will mark the beginning of Lent by attending Ash Wednesday Mass online. This year, due to COVID restrictions, the mass at St Dominic’s Church will be live streamed into classrooms from 9:00am. The blessed ashes will be brought over to the school during the service and distributed by your child’s classroom teacher using cotton buds.
Lent is a traditional time where Catholics typically give something up, as well as putting others before themselves by giving to the poor and hungry of the world. Over the coming week, students will be asked to think about something to sacrifice, as well as giving to the poor through Project Compassion. If you would like to learn more about Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent, you may find the video located at the link below a useful resource.
