Youth Group Goals
- To get a minimum of 10 young people to attend youth group.
- Build relationships with and among the young people.
- To have fun and establish youth group.
Goal Status
Goal 1 – We had 10 young people attend the youth group with was amazing!! According to Fr Bernard we should have at least 5 more next month since a few young people who were intending on coming along unfortunately sick with Covid.
Goal 2 and 3 – The night ran smoothly, and we were able to chat and have fun with all the youth.
Youth Group Talk / Focus
We opened the theme of Saints and Sinners and how Saints were sinners and sinners can become Saints. We dove into how Saints weren’t always perfect people and definitely sinned. Original sin was explained and used to show that although we try not to, it’s human nature to sin and that even the worst sinners, always have an opportunity and place within God’s family, no matter how often they sin. We looked at St. Thomas Aquinas and how his life was one of the worst among the Saints but even he was converted and is now a doctor of the Church.
Next Youth Group Theme
Next Youth Group we will be looking at a few saints specifically and how their lives weren’t perfect but even still they became well-known saints and are figures in the Church today.
This Past Week’s Non-Youth Group Activities /Masses /External Involvement
The youth assisted with the Saturday night Mass after the youth group. We had three of the girls, Giselle, Marianna and Michaela accompanying Giulia on the piano with their beautiful singing as well as doing the readings.
Parish/Newsletter Promotion
The next youth group will be on Saturday the 11th June 4-5.30pm at St Dominic’s Parish Hall. All young people in Years 6-12.
