Another carnival, another most improved shield for St Dominic’s.
Once again, our students at St Dominic’s shone at HBF Stadium on the final Thursday of term, wearing their St Dominic’s swimming cap with pride and swimming their heart out for the school. We are so proud of all of the students who swam on the day and can’t be happier with the results they produced. Talent alone only gets you so far. The effort and hard work that our students put into these events is certainly paying off.
Results on the day were:
Most improved- 1st
Overall- 4th
Girls Shield- 4th
Boys shield- 4th
Some other notable highlights for the day included:
- Mia Safranek breaking some records in the Year 3 races. Well done Mia.
- MacKenzie McDonald swimming up against Year 4’s and winning!
- The Year 6 girls winning a thriller in the 50m Freestyle relay.
Like all other events, the day wouldn’t be possible without the help of parents and teachers. A big thank you to Mrs Haagman, Mrs Raso, Mrs Foster, Mrs Sims and Mrs Elliss for helping check toilet passes on the day. I would also like to thank Mrs Haagman for organising Cam to run our swimming training down at Scarborough Pool on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and to Mr Bovell for attending trainings on Tuesday mornings.
The support we had on the day was second to none. Thanks to all of the St Dominic’s parents for coming to cheer their children on throughout the day. Thank you also to Mr Bolding for ensuring our students were ready for their races on the day.
Our next big event on the list is the X Country in Term 2. Our big challenge now is to turn those most improved shields into overall wins. If we continue to work hard, the results will come.
Thank you again and well done.
