2021 Annual Community Meeting Minutes and 2022 Staffing Update

Please find attached below the minutes from this years School Advisory Council and P&F ACM’s.  The minutes from the School Advisory Council’s ACM includes, within the Principal’s Report, the staffing structure for 2022.

As you will see in my report, we welcome new staff members to our community next year and also farewell some familiar faces.  Below are further details about departing staff members that have not already been shared, as well as newly appointed staff that have also not previously been announced.

We farewell, for twelve months, Sue Cappriotti.  Sue will be taking a years leave to travel with her husband and spend time with her grandchildren.  We wish her all the very best throughout 2022 and hope that she enjoys this special time together with her family.

Rose Miloro has recently made the decision to step down from her role at St Dominic’s.  Rose has made this decision as she would like to focus on the possibility of starting a family in the new year.  We are so excited for Rose and can’t wait to hopefully hear the news of a possible pregnancy next year.  We thank Rose for the amazing job she has done in Pre Primary this year, especially with all of the transitions required due to the build.  All the very best for the year ahead, Rose!

As you may be aware from the announcement earlier in the year, Louise Smith is expecting her second child early next year.  Louise has made the decision to commence maternity leave at the start of the year, so won’t be returning in 2022.  We can’t wait to hear the news of their baby girls arrival and we look forward to sharing the news with you.

Following a difficult end to 2021 for Jacky and her fiancé Ben, she has made the decision to return to St Dominic’s in a part time capacity next year.  As you will see from the staffing outline in my report, Jacky will be teaching Year 3 with Hannah Mearns in 2022.  We continue to pray for Jacky and Ben and hope that the new year is full of hope and love.

Danielle Rimmer, who was appointed to the Year 4 role in Term 4 this year, will be remaining with us in 2022 as the Year 5 teacher.  Danielle has settled into life here at St Dominic’s well and is looking forward to continuing the journey next year.  We are very excited to have Danielle as part of our teaching team in 2022.

During Semester 1 and 2 next year, Mags James will be taking LSL.  The CEWA system has requested all staff with a significant amount of leave accumulated, take this leave during 2022.  Mags, who has been teaching for many years, is looking forward to spending time with her family as well as furthering her studies.  Mags will return to her Music and Support role in Semester 2.  We wish Mags all the best for her time away from school life.

Miriam Peake, who many of you may remember, will be assuming Mags’ role in Semester 1.  Miriam is very excited about rejoining our community and can’t wait to be back working with our students.  We look forward to welcoming Miriam back next year.

Following recent foot surgery, Natalie Thompson, one of our Kindy EA’s, has decided not to return in 2022.  Unfortunately, Natalie’s surgery resulted in several complications requiring a significant amount of rehab, which is why she has not returned to work since the end of Term 3.  Although things are looking up and she is on the road to recover, rehab sessions will need to continue into next year.  Natalie is also planning on undertaking some further studies in 2022.  We thank Natalie for all that she brought to our Kindy program this year and wish her all the very best with her recovery.

Katie McGowen has been appointed as the new Kindy EA for 2022.  Katie joins us in a more official role next year, after completing a number of days in 2021 as a relief EA.  We look forward to Katie being part of our special team moving forward.

Peta Kelly has made the difficult decision to step down from her Admin Officer role at the end of the year.  Peta is not taking up new employment next year, instead she is looking to spend time with her elderly parents as well as her husband and children.  Peta has brought so much to St Dominic’s across several different roles and will be missed next year.  We may still see Peta in and around the school from time to time, as she has offered to be on our Admin relief list.  We wish Peta all the very best next year!

The process of appointing a new Admin Officer was recently completed and I am pleased to announce that Alison Elsegood has been appointed to this role.  Alison joins our school after many years working within admin teams across Catholic Education.  I look forward to welcoming Alison to our school and having the opportunity to introduce her to the school community.

The remaining positions still outstanding will be appointed in the coming weeks and announced to the community in due course.
