Book Week is coming up in Week 5 and several activities have been planned. There will be a parade, a book exchange and many fun activities for the students to enjoy in the library at lunch time.
Book Week Parade
On Monday, 19th August at 9am, St Dominic’s School students will take part in a Book Week Parade. The theme for Book Week across Australia this year is ‘Reading is My Secret Power’.
We ask that each child come to school dressed as a character from a book. There will be a small prize for the most creative costume from each class. This is not a compulsory activity so children choosing to not dress up should come dressed in their normal school uniform.
The Great Book Exchange
On Tuesday, 20th August, there will be a book exchange to raise funds for the children of the Metta Geha Orphanage in Myanmar.
Could your child/ children please bring in one or two books from home. The books should be second hand, but in good condition. They should be books which the children have loved reading and would like to pass on for another child to enjoy. Please send the books in as soon as possible, and place them in the boxes provided in your child’s classroom.
In Week 5, teachers will collect a gold coin donation from each child. This donation will allow your child to choose a book from the book exchange to take home. The Great Book Exchange will take place on Tuesday, 21st August. There may be the opportunity to purchase another book on Wednesday before school with an additional gold coin donation if there are any leftover books at the end of the day.
Thank you so much for your support of both of these events.
